Josephine Craig Penner

Josephine was only dancing at Youth Ballet and Contemporary Dance School for two years when she first joined the Company at the age of 12.  Josephine is homeschooled and plays several musical instruments – the guitar, the piano and the pipe organ.  She is starting a chemistry degree at the University of Regina.  She was also asked to dance and teach with the SQx Danza.

Dance has made an impact on Josephine’s life.  She attributes coming to dance everyday with helping to “shape me into the person I am today, by building my self discipline, perseverance and team work skills.”   Even though she is not pursuing the arts in her post-secondary education, Josephine believes that dance has given her tools that can help her achieve her goals in University.10511619_10152814767116212_2563849440590428429_o

The best advice Josephine can give young dancers is that “if you are true to yourself as a dancer and be the best you can be, you will be unstoppable.  Don’t try and copy anyone.”

In closing, Josephine would like to thank her parents for their complete support in what she does.

Due to increased demand, we are offering a new Rhythm & Movement class on Saturdays from 11:45am-12:30pm for students aged 4-5.  It is the perfect introduction to dance and a wonderful stepping stone into Pre-Ballet. This class encourages children to have fun with creative movement, developing rhythm, co-ordination, balance, flexibility, and musicality.

In addition, we will be starting a new Conditioning Class in January for levels 5 and up.  This class will focus on strength and stability with the use of simple props such as Thera-bands and balls. Dancers will develop their own exercise routine to complement their technique classes.  This class will be Tuesdays from 7:00-8:00pm.  If you would like your dancer to take this class, please register at the office as soon as possible.  This class must have a minimum of 6 students registered.  If your dancer is already taking the Saturday Conditioning class and wants to switch to the Tuesday class, please contact the office.

Openings are still available for Modern Classes – Ages 12-14.
